Never to be forgotten was Darby! The clown, the perpetual funster, the dog who thought he was feline are all apt descriptions for Darby and yet he did everything, comedic or not, with the grace and elegance only a saluki could possess. Darby was a velcro dog. In other words he adored being petted and stroked and would affectionately arch his back and paste himself against any object abrasive enough for a good scratch, including people. He was very vocal and would talk back to anyone during a "conversation." He was bossy but not brave, he was rambunctious yet gentle, he was the epitome of strength and yet very graceful. He was a large sturdy dog with good bone, very powerful and was always in an "up" mood. He was a very nice combination of English and Dutch lines and was very keen on chasing anything that moved - namely the household cats!

Sadly, we never showed or coursed Darby much primarily because our children were still quite small and the distance too great when he was in his prime. He eventually succumbed to cancer of the jaw.

Darby had been used 3x at stud and has produced 2 champions so far.
